You are invited to a memorial for Claud Clary on Saturday, May 8, at the Union Hall, 2448 N St, at 11:00 a.m. Claud was Secretary/Treasurer of the local from January 1971 to June 1983. He was instrumental in the acquisition of the land, the building of our hall, and retiring our mortgage, in addition to all other Secretary/Treasurer duties of the local. We hope to see you there.
Today marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of Gerry Horgan. Horgan, a 34-year-old member and chief steward of CWA Local 1103, was struck and killed by a car that drove into a picket line during the 1989 NYNEX strike.
At his funeral, a line of thousands of CWA members wearing red stretched for more than a mile along the route to the church. Today, and every Thursday, CWA members wear red to honor Gerry's memory and to show that we are united in the fight for justice for all working people.
